Official patent and trademark fees in Belarus have been amended as of January 1, 2014.

The Law of December 31, 2013 "On amendments and additions to some laws of the Republic of Belarus on entrepreneurial activity and taxation" came into force on January 1, 2014. According to said law amendments and additions have been introduced to the Tax Code of the Republic of Belarus, including those parts relating to patent and trademark fees.

Thus, from January 1, 2014 in the Republic of Belarus there is a single scale of patent fees for residents and non-residents of the Republic of Belarus fixed at the rates set in US dollars. Earlier residents used to pay official fees based on the rates set in Belarus rubles, while for non-residents official fees were fixed in US dollars.

New fees if compared to the fees stipulated for non-residents earlier have been decreased approximately two times. For instance, official filing fee for a patent application containing 1 independent claim according to the current Tax Code is 50 USD in contrast to 100 USD stipulated for said action earlier.

Additionally, the new Tax Law presupposes 25% discount on the majority of official patent and design fees for the applicants natural persons that was not available before.
