Annuities for maintenance of Eurasian patents in Turkmenistan increased

The official annual fees for maintaining Eurasian patents on the territory of Turkmenistan and the type of currency paid were changed on July 24, 2020 in accordance with Decree of the President of Turkmenistan No. 858 of July 5, 2018.

Additionally, the introduced changes established privileges provided to patent owners. Thus, individuals, i.e. residents of Turkmenistan, should pay annuities in Turkmen manats in the amount of 10% of the fixed sum. Legal entities located in Turkmenistan also pay annuities in Turkmen manats, but in a full amount. Other individuals and legal entities not residing or located in Turkmenistan should pay annuities in US dollars.

Amount of annual fees for maintenance of Eurasian patents has increased by 25% for each year of patent validity. The maximum term of protection of invention remains twenty years from the filing date of application.
