The resolution 688 was adopted on 19 December, 2014 by Government of Georgia. Following this resolution 70% discount for patenting inventions, utility models and registration of designs for inventors and designers, institutions of higher education and independent scientific research units is provided. Moreover students, pupils and retiree applicant inventors and designers are provided with 90% discount as well.

Also this resolution concerns an Appellation of Origin and Geographical Indication. Fees for registration were significantly reduced to 60 USD comparing with 330 USD that applicants paid before.

National Intellectual Property Center Sakpatenti encourages inventors and favours the development of innovation process in Georgia. It is expected that reduction of fees will attract more local applications for inventions and geographical indications to Sakpatenti.
