Cancellation of accelerated examination procedure in Eurasia

The Regulations concerning providing services by the Eurasian Patent Office have been amended by the Resolution No. 6 of the Eurasian Patent Convention of February 11, 2013 by exclusion of the possibility of filing a request for accelerated prosecution of patent applications.

Earlier, filing a request for accelerated prosecution reduced the term of conducting formal examination to 5 working days, patent search to 1 month, and accelerated examination as to the substance to 3 months and included accelerated publication and issue of a patent. By requesting accelerated prosecution applicants had the possibility to reduce the term of registration of a patent in Eurasia to almost half a year.

According to the Resolution applications will be examined under the accelerated prosecution procedure if the request for acceleration is received by February 28, 2013. As of March 1, 2013 requests for accelerated prosecution will not be taken into consideration.
