The Agreement on coordination of action for protection of intellectual property rights within the Eurasian Economic Union was signed in Belarus on September 8, 2015.

The Agreement on coordination of action for protection of intellectual property rights within the Eurasian Economic Union was signed in Belarus on September 8, 2015 by the representatives of five member states of the Union, namely the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.

The Agreement on coordination was developed in accordance with the Protocol on protection of intellectual property, i.e. supplement No. 26 to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union signed in Astana, Kazakhstan on May 29, 2014.

The main purpose of the Agreement is to coordinate the activities aimed at prevention, detection, restraining of violation of intellectual property rights as well as investigation of such violation; harmonization and improvement of legislation of member states in the field of protection of intellectual property rights; exchange of information on intellectual property rights protection between the respective authorities of the member states and with the Eurasian Economic Commission.

It is supposed that by signing said Agreement on coordination the effectiveness of protection of intellectual property rights will be increased within the Union.
