The Lithuanian Patent Office further expands electronic communication with applicants

Starting from November 25, 2015 the Lithuanian Patent Office further expands electronic communication with applicants, namely documents relating to patents (extracts from the Lithuanian Patent Register, extracts on European patents validated in Lithuania, Notifications and Decisions of the experts from the patent examination board) will be sent to registered users via a secure electronic service system (EPAS). So applicants will be able to download necessary documentation via the electronic media and also answer to it electronically.

Electronic documents placed into EPAS system are to be signed by electronic signature and will have legal effect as documents issued on paper. Electronic documents will reach applicants more promptly than the paper version of the document - thereby saving time of applicants and industrial property owners.

Moreover, the Lithuanian Patent Office is going to expand the electronic services list in the near future, i.e. it is planned to recognize electronic documents relating to European patent applications, translation of claims for publication of European patents, requests for the issuance of a supplementary protection certificates. If submitted via the electronic system they will not have to be submitted on paper.
