Registration of Eurasian Industrial Designs will be possible soon

Kyrgyzstan deposited the instrument of ratification of the Protocol on the Protection of Industrial Designs to the Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization. The Protocol was adopted on September 9, 2019 and would come into force for the first three countries ratifying it in three months after the deposit of the instrument of ratification by the third country.

Currently Azerbaijan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan have ratified the protocol accordingly.

The main goal of the Protocol is expanding the Eurasian system for the protection of intellectual property objects by creating a system for registration and protection of rights on industrial designs on the basis of a single Eurasian patent.

The entry into force of the Protocol on protection of Eurasian industrial designs on the territory of the contracting states, namely Azerbaijan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Russia and Turkmenistan, contributes to increase of investment attractiveness of the regional economies and, as a consequence, development of industry and trade.
