Changes in the official patent fees in the Russian Federation

The amendments into the Regulation on patent and trademark fees came into force on June 21, 2021 in accordance with Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 922.

Mainly, these changes are aimed at encouraging applicants to obtain trademark certificates and patents in electronic form rather than in paper. Thus, for example, obtaining a trademark certificate or supplement confirming any changes thereinto on paper will cost additional 28 USD. Also, the fees for issuance of patents on inventions, utility models and industrial designs on paper have increased by 7 USD. The fees for obtaining a duplicate of a patent/TM certificate will now constitute 11 USD instead of 21 USD charged previously, however, if the applicant requires a patent or a certificate in hard copy, 28 USD should be paid additionally to mentioned 11 USD.

Besides, since August 1, 2021 in order to request the substantive examination the applicant should pay a single fee, which will constitute 173 USD for the 1st independent claim and 127 USD for each additional independent claim in excess of 1.
